The WPGA Scholarship Fund’s purpose has always been to assist employees of WPGA Member Clubs who meet the Fund’s academic and overall requirements. The Scholarship Fund was founded to help caddies only, but was expanded in the 1980’s to include employees from all departments including course maintenance, club house, swimming pools, and the golf shop.

The Scholarship Fund qualifies in the IRS code as a 501(c)3 charitable trust; all deductions are tax deductible.

In selecting students, the WPGA Scholarship Committee concentrates on financial need, academic qualifications, extra curricular/community activities, and club employment. To be eligible, an applicant must have worked at least two seasons at a WPGA Member Club.

The annual award for undergraduate students is renewable for up to four years, or until graduation, provided the student maintains a 2.8 grade index or its equivalent. Students may apply at the start of their senior year of high school or during their first two years of college.

With the rising cost of tuition, the Scholarship Fund needs to continue to grow to provide meaningful support for as many students as possible. The Scholarship Fund needs the help of alumni, friends, organizations, and Member Clubs. The Scholarship Fund cannot grow without the overall participation of the golf community. With additional funds, we can do two things - grant larger scholarships whose needs exceeds our grants and provide more scholarships. We want to do both.

Please consider a donation so we can continue to promote education for the worthy Member Club employees who make the days at our clubs and courses enjoyable. Help us provide the opportunity for these employees to continue their education. Many thanks in advance.

The Scholarship Fund is an equal opportunity program that does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, or ethnicity.

The official registration and financial information of the Scholarship Fund may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll free within Pennsylvania (1-800-732-0999). Registration does not imply endorsement.
